10-Minute Editing Checklist for Any AI First Draft
When you need to polish a draft quickly, you don't need a three-hour deep dive. Here is a fast, 10-minute routine that catches the most common problems.
Minutes 1-2: Check the Headings
Read only your headings. Do they make sense in order? If two headings say the exact same thing in different words, delete one and combine the sections.
Minutes 3-5: Delete the Filler
Search for words like 'furthermore', 'moreover', 'pivotal', and 'landscape'. Delete them. Notice how the sentence immediately sounds more natural.
Minutes 6-7: Check the Rhythm
Are all your sentences twenty words long? Break one into a short punch. Combine two others. Give the reader a natural beat.
Minutes 8-9: Check Every Number
Never trust numbers or dates in a first draft. Check every statistic against your actual source.
Minute 10: Read It Out Loud
Read the last two paragraphs out loud. If you stumble or run out of breath, that sentence is too long. Shorten it.
